Getting Rid of the “It’s Not the Right Time” Excuse

March 2017

Is there ever a good time to start anything?? A new business, workout program, house project, adopt a dog, etc. – I think NOT! This topic has been on my mind a lot lately, probably due to my career change and just from some of my conversations with others. Life is always busy which makes it feel as though there is never a right time for anything but somehow when things come into our lives unexpected, we make it work right?

This happened to my husband & I when we adopted our first puppy. Yes, we were talking about it & we set a timeframe to start looking & adopt but that plan got totally derailed when we first saw our precious little Lola (now 1 year old & not so little). It was such a crazy time in our lives, we were just trying to figure out how to keep up with all these new house responsibilities and we were about to travel for 4 weddings that year in all different places. Definitely not the right time to take care of a puppy but once we saw her, it was game over. We took her home and started the crazy adventure of being puppy parents and I wouldn’t change it for a second. She has brought us SO much happiness & joy and also taught us a lot about ourselves & the responsibility of taking care of another life. We are so in love with her & if we hadn’t just “made it work” we would have missed out on lots of laughs, snuggles, and love that we can’t imagine being without now.

Why do we always give excuses of “it’s not the right time” or “when I get more free time” or “I’m too busy” when we have the desire to do or get something? Let’s face it, this world isn’t slowing down anytime soon & I highly doubt as time goes on we will somehow magically have more “free time.” If there is something you want bad enough, you can get it. If day in and day out you are miserable in your job, change it! Apply to new jobs, network with others, work on your resume, OR build a side business doing something you love (the path I took) so one day you may have the freedom to walk out of a place that puts you in a bad mood. Yes, it takes work & it takes time, but it’s your life & you only get one. Why NOT try something or go for something you have dreamed about?

Just my thoughts for this week that I had to share with you guys! What are your thoughts? Do you find yourself giving the “I don’t have time” excuse? What is it you really want but haven’t pursued?

And remember when in doubt, sweat it out.
